21st January

I’ve just updated the fabrics catalogue with another 30 (or so) new fabrics. Congratulations to the winners of prizes and certificates in the recent 2010 Albion Park Show. The numbers of people (especially the juniors) entering quilts was up this year. With the help of Spencer from Janome Sewing Centres we sponsored the quilting section of this show. Spencer donated a DC2101 sewing machine to the junior winner and we donated gift vouchers for some of the other sections. We were very pleased that many of our customers and students took the time to enter their quilts. Congratulations to everyone who entered and particularly to those who led their sections. I will upload some photos soon and list all of the winners.

12th January

There are more updates and more fabrics marked down to 40% off.

24th December

It’s been a while (too long really) since I had an opportunity to update the site. Particular circumstances in the last six months have made it difficult to keep things up to date but things will go back to normal in the new year and the regular weekly updates that we had previously. As always there are lots of new arrivals.

Cheryl and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a blessed Christmas and a great New Year. We thank you for your custom and support over the last 12 months and look forward to an exciting 2010 with new classes, kits, projects and block of the months in the pipeline. Stay safe with your travels over the period and we look forward to hearing from you next year. rob

16th November

New fabrics have just been uploaded. I still haven’t been able to keep up with the new arrivals in the store but at least I’m not getting to much further behind! Included are a new range of tone-on-tone fabrics called “Tapestry”. Also arrived is a great children’s cowboy novelty range called “Horsin’ Around”.

Also in are co-ordinates for the latest ranges for moda’s jellyrolls, honey buns and layer cakes.

We’ve had to delay some of our machine embroidery classes but hope to announce new dates soon.

3rd November

I have begun uploading new fabrics onto the website. There is still a lot more new arrivals in the store but it’s a start! I’ll be continuing to scan new fabrics this coming weekend and the next major upload will be early next week. Fabrics include the “Pretty Petals” range and the funky “Deco Park” range.

We have a new ‘Block of the Month’ project called “Kitchen Capers” Like some of our previous projects (Sunshine Frolics and Songbirds) there are some beautiful stitcheries which a part of the finished quilt top.

1st November

We have just updated our list of classes. Added have been a number of new machine embroidery classes which can help you to get the most from your embroidery machine. Julie, our newest part of our store team is an experienced machine embroiderer and has much to show you. Also we have lots of new fabrics and there are a number of fabrics throughout the site which are currently on special. Also check out Janome’s latest specials for November.

30th October

Lots of new books have just arrived in-store. Check these out and don’t miss out. Limited numbers in-stock.

23rd October

Check out the new pantograph design “Christmas Delights” just released. An easy design to floow with lovely Chrsitmas balls and lights. As with all of Rob’s designs they are specifically made for the shorter arm machines and home quilters. See the pantographs section.

15th October

Our 30% off fabric sale has now finally ended but there are still some good specials and quality fabrics marked down to either $6/m or $10/mtr. Have a look at our new fabrics as well as we are sure you will find our prices to be cheaper than other stores. We are endeavouring to give our customers the very best in service, product and value.

1st October

Janome have just released their October price list. There are lots of specials and just time to layby for Christmas. The patchwork machines MC6600P & MC6500P are still on special and there are huge savings on the range of embroidery machines. If you are looking for an overlocker then have a look at the special prices on the ML644L and the CoverPro machines. The Janome quilters package is also on special and you can save $2500 on this complete package (frame, machine, stitch regulator, hard templates, and more. We have a frame set up in out store so come in and let us show you how easy it really is.

22nd September

There are more fabric arrivals in the store. I’m slowly getting up to date with getting new fabrics on to the website. The new entries are “Morris Workshop” and “Fusions Collection 2” and Holiday Flourish” There is also an ‘unamed’ range of candy pastel colours in blues, greens, pinks, reds and yellows. The recent Janome buyback sale has been very popular and so much so that they have run out of stock in some models. If you want to make use of the current specials then don’t dealy otherwise you may well miss out. Sale ends at the end of this current month.

1st September

Well I’ve got the first of the new Christmas fabric ranges up on the site so check out the Christmas fabrics page. There are more to these ranges so “stay tuned”. We have “Figgy Pudding”, Frosted Memories” and “Holly Jolly Snowmen”

31st August

Janome Sewing centres have just announced the date for the closure of the Wollongong store on the 4th September. This means that the Albion Park store will be the only Janome outlet for the Illawarra.

There has been lots of changes to the classes in the store but the biggest change is that you must book in to attend the daily Open Sewing (drop-in) type classes. These classes have become very popular in recent months and whilst that is great it has meant that we must limit numbers to ensure we can still manage the shop and give you the help you need in the class. We have endeavoured to increase our staff to assist in this.

Our fabric sale has been very popular and I have just removed a lot of fabrics from the site as they have been sold out. There are lots of new stock in the store but unfortunately I have been unable to get them scanned and loaded up. Hopefully not too much longer! They include the “Figgy Pudding” Christmas range from Moda.

14th August

Well it’s been a while since our last update by things haven’t stopped in the store. Circumstances have limited my ability to put recent fabrics onto the site but I hope to rectify this in the next two weeks. We attended the Janome Embroidery EXPO in Bankstown last weekend and it was a great show. Lots of classes, international and national teachers and lots more bargains. Keep an eye out next year as it is well worthwhile making the trip. The extension to the store is now complete although we are still tidying things up. The new area for the classroom is a great benefit and has freed a lot of space for more machines. Janome are ‘officially’ calling us a ‘superstore’.

9th July

Things are all going well in the store this month with many of our customers taking advantage of our huge 20%-60% which ended last week. We still have lots of fabrics on sale between 30% and 50% so there’s still opportunities out there to grab quality fabrics at very cheap prices.

I will apologies up front. Over the next couple of months work has taken me away from home and so website updates may lag a little behind events in the store where things are moving along as normal. This means also that I am having to put a hold on accepting new quilts for quilting. My ability to quilt has diminished greatly and I will be pressed to complete the backlog of quilts in the store already. Everything should go back to normal by the end of September. To anyone with a quilt already in I will get it done as quickly as possible.

4th July

Lori Malm’s class was a huge hit with the ladies all enjoying a wornderful day sewing. Laurie showed us all her secrets and it was well worth the effort. Cheryl has gained permission to re-teach the class for those who might not have been able to make the Wednesday class and we are looking a setting a date on a Saturday in the near future. There are still plenty of kits available using beautiful co-ordinated Kaffe Fassette fabrics. Talk to Cheryl in the store if you would like to learn the techniques in making this quilt.

27th June

If you are close to us in the store you will see that we are doing a store wide Stocktake SALE - 20-60% OFF fabrics (new arrivals excluded and min 1/2mtr cuts). Huge discounts also on other stock including threads. 1 WEEK ONLY - starts Monday June 29th - ends Friday July 3rd.

26th June

We have just received new fabrics in the store and I will scan and get them up on the website soon.

We have now got the MB4 embroidery machine in the store. Cheryl and I have just completed training on this impressive machine. What a great entry into professional embroidery!

We have also just received the 1200D Professional Overlocker in the store.

JANOME have just issued a new price list which is effective until 30th September. It’s another BuyBack Sale where you will save an extra $200 by bringing in your old machine - ring the store for more details.

17th June

Laurie Malm from Lollipops Designer Bindings is coming to Australia from the US and we are lucky enough to have her agree to teach in our store. She will be teaching us how to use her pre-made bias bindings in her ‘Baseball Bias’ quilt. The techniques we learn will add creativity to our future quilting projects. Janome Sewing Centres are sponsoring the class and have agreed to reduce the price to only $185 for the day. Considering that this includes the kit of fabrics (hot lunch, morning & afternoon teas) we think this is pretty good. Other stores in QLD are charging $300 or more so grab this one-off opportunity. See our class page for more details.

16th June

Thanks so much to everyone who came up and chatted at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Show. I had a wonderful two days at the show demonstrating the frame and Janome’s wonderful package. Thanks also for the helpful comments on the range of pantograph designs available. I’ve taken these on board and have begun to include a few more ‘random type’ designs to those already in the range. Check out the pantograph page on the site and see three new designs “Wild One”, “Hearts” and “Zig Zag”

11th June

Rob has created another two pantograph designs. At the urge of his daughter who was looking for something nautical we now introduce the “Sea Shells” and “On the Reef” designs.

5th June

Rob has just released six brand new quilting pantograph designs :- Oriental Dragons, Sweet Dreams, Lullaby Nights, Rambling II, Rose Garden and Frangipanis. Rob’s designs are all suitable for shorter throat machines and specially designed with the home quilter in mind. Rob has also re-designed his Ford & Holden ‘Fan’ pantographs. Gone is the bland text which is replaced with ‘cool’ looking cars.

Rob will be demonstrating the Janome Quilters Package at the coming craft fair at Darling Harbour on  Saturday the 13th June. Interested in saving money by quilting your own quilts? The equipment you need is now very reasonably priced at it will pay for itself in no time at all. Now to mention the great satisfaction you get from doing “it all” yourself. Come and talk to Rob at the show. He’s happy to answer all your questions. I’m sure Janome will have some great show specials so come along.

3rd June

Wow, we are almost ½way through another year! June see us celebrate the 2nd Birthday of ‘The Quilters Garden’. We are thankful for all the support of our customers over the past two years. We are announcing also this month that we are expanding once again our store here in Albion Park. Janome Sewing Centres has acquired the shop front next door and we will soon be increasing our floor space with some of that area.

Janome has released their June price list and there are still some really good opportunities there. Our fabric sale continues. You will see that I have removed quite a few fabrics as they have gone in the past month but there are still lots of discounted fabrics to choose from. I’ve even add a few more!

22nd May

Our massive fabric sale has been expanded. Check out over 50 bolts of fabric which have been marked down to only $10.00/mtr. You can save up to 60% on some of these fabrics. There are lots of Novelty prints and Flannels at this amazing price (just in time for winter).

18th May 2009

It’s been very busy so far this month and there hasn’t been much time for work on the website. Our Sakura Quilt kits remain very popular and over half of the kits in each colour (blue/purple) are now sold. Some lovely cute babies panels arrived last week and we have turned them into great babies quilt kits (pictures coming soon). We have emptied over 30 bolts of fabric so far this month due to the massive fabric sale. There are still lots of quality fabric left at 30-40% off but don’t delay - sale ends at the end of this current month. The Aniversary model sewing machine from Janome (DC2101) has also been marching out the door this month. Considering the special price of only $599.00 for the $RRP $999.00 machine we are not surprised. Once again, I you are thinking about a machine then don’t delay. You wont find another machine around at this quality for this low price.

1st May 2009

All the new fabrics are now scanned and available to view in the fabric catalogue. We have also received new books as well so have a look in the book section. Included is copies of the Add-a-line Quilting books which we have been waiting for for the last few months now. We have just announced a huge fabric sale so we can clear space in the store for fabrics soon to arrive. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to purchase quality fabrics at rediculously low prices. Much of this fabric is selling at below cost be we need the space so it must go!

29th April

It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to update our site but I’ve finally had a chance to add the first of over 50 new fabrics. There are lots of new Japanese and Batik prints and I will add the others shortly. Included are lovely flannels from the “Lullaby & Goodnight” range.

RJR Fabrics “Sakura” Quilt kits have arrived and Cheryl is busily putting together the quilt for show. We have the Blue and Burgundy colurways available but don’t wait too long as ½ of the original 20 kits are already gone.

If you are local please come and see us at the Dapto Quilt and Craft show this coming weekend. We will be there with new kits and machines.

15th April

There is lots of new stock in the store. New Japanese quilt kits have just arrived. Unfortunately I have not been able to load all the new stock onto the site as of yet but hopefully it wont take too long. Check out Janome’s brand new machine the 40th Anniversary model DC2101. This is a $1000 machine at an introductory price of only $599.

20th March 2009:

I’ve begun scanning all our new fabrics so check out the new arrivals. There are about 35 new bolts including the “St James”, “Lotus”, “Beach House” & “Abbey Lane” ranges. This is only about 1/3 of all the new fabric so keep checking here as I continue to add to the site.

17th March 2009:

Our new ‘Three’s Company Block of the month quilt project has just arrived. The first blocks are being posted today. 3rd March 2009:

March has begun with a bang! We were pleased to be invited to the Nowra Quilt and Craft Show 2009. It was a wonderful display of quilts and congratulations to the Nowra Lioness Club for all their hard work. We believe they had a record crowd turn up this year. The show provided us an opportunity to meet the quilters of the south coast area , many of which still do not know we exist. That is why it is so important to us to do these shows. We just love to meet and chat we new quilters. The show also gave Rob the opportunity to setup and demonstrate Janome’s Ultimate Quilting Package. Rob fielded lots of questions and queries and appreciated the huge amount of interest that it generated. We just love the fact that machine quilting is no longer longer limited to those who can afford $20K+ for a long-arm machine. At less than $6000 you can have everything (including machine stitch regulator, templates, and more) home to do your own quilting. That’s less than some sewing machines! Click here for more details. If you saw us at the show and want more information  please ring us in the store (4257 8277). We’re sure we can arrange a deal that will surprise & please you.
